Candelilla Wax
Candelilla Wax is a Vegan alternative to Beeswax
Description: Candelilla wax is derived from the leaves and stems of a the small Candelilla shrub which is native to northern Mexico. The wax is obtained from a scale-like covering on the leaves and stalks. After drying in the sun for two weeks, the leaves and stems are boiled and the wax is skimmed from the surface. This produces a natural vegetable wax that can be used as a vegan and sustainable alternative to Beeswax.
Possible Uses: Candelilla is used as an emollient, thickening and solidifying agent. It has been used in the following products: lip balms, salves, lip sticks, massage bars, soaps, mascara, eye liner, eye shadow and candles.
Note: When substituting for Beeswax, use half the quantity you would if using Beeswax.
